What We Believe

Christians Only – Acts 11:26
We are Christians only. We do not wear denominational names or adhere to denominational practices. We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word and we follow it alone. Since no denominational names occur in the Bible, none are worn. We accept no human creed because the Bible contains all the Christian is to believe.

The Authority of Christ – Acts 2: 36
We accept Jesus as Lord and Christ. He said, “And why do you call me, “Lord, Lord,” and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). To add to, or take from Jesus’ instruction is a failure to honor him as Lord. We have no conferences, synods, councils, or earthly headquarters because Christ never authorized them.

Investigate All Things – I Thessalonians 5:21
Please investigate! Our prayer is for you not to face Christ in judgment without investigating the Word of God. This is essential because men have tampered with the worship and practice of the Lord’s church. Many of these changes are popular and widely practiced, but God nowhere approves of them. Where you spend eternity depends on what you do now. Study the Bible. Follow it as the only sure guide for religion. We are not a sect. We have no books to sell, nor do we offer a creed book. Our simple urge is an investigation of the Bible.

A Gospel For Everyone – Romans 1:16, Mark 15:16
We would be delighted to study the Bible with you. We urge obedience of God and would be honored to assist you. We preach the crucified and risen Lord. We urge everyone to accept God’s gracious gift of eternal life. God’s plan for forgiveness involves hearing the gospel. Hearing leads to belief, believing leads to repentance toward God and faith in Jesus (Acts 20:21), confession of Jesus as the Christ (Romans 10:10), and baptism for the remissions of sins (Acts 2:38), followed by a lifetime of faithful service (Revelation 2:10), leads to heaven.

Obedient Faith
We know our faith is pleasing to God only to the extent it moves to obey him. Through faith we are God’s children. “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Galatians 3:26-27). Obedience necessarily includes baptism by immersion, at which time your sins are washed away and are born into your new life and family as a Christian. It is here you come into a proper relationship with God.

All in fellowship with Christ are members of his universal body, the church
(I Corinthians 12:12, Colossians 1:18). The universal church is a spiritual body. It has no external physical organization. Wherever members work in fellowship, a congregation exists. Every Christian must be part of a congregation. We read in the Bible of churches in Jerusalem, Rome, and other cities and villages. These were not different kinds of churches, but congregation of Christians in various places. We need to be a gathering of Christians, a church of Christ in our community. Assembly on The First Day – I Corinthians 16:1-2
Carefully following the Bible, the Lord’s Supper is observed as a memorial every Sunday. Early Christians met every first day of the week (I Corinthians 16:2). They came together to keep this memorial meal on the Lord’s Day (Acts 20:7). We follow their example.

Acappella music – Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:15, Hebrews 13:15
Desiring not to add to the Lord’s instructions. No mechanical musical instruments are used in worship. Christians were instructed to sing, “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19). That is what we do – no more and no less.

When You Visit
You can expect to be treated as an honored guest. Utmost respect will be shown toward you. You will not be embarrassed, nor solicited for monetary contributions. Our worship is restricted to those activities authorized for Christians. On the first day of the week (Acts 20:7) the Lord’s Supper is observed (I Corinthians 11:24-26), God is praised with singing (Colossians 3:16), prayers are offered (I Corinthians 14:15), and God’s Word is the substance for all teaching (Acts 2:42). Each member gives as he has purposed in his heart (I Corinthians 16:1-2, II Corinthians 9:7). It is a simple arrangement. We believe it is simply grand. You are welcome to meet with us.
